Padua, Italy — A community cleanup in the Italian city of Padua brought together people from different faiths and national backgrounds on 4 October 2026.

The initiative brought Scientology Volunteer Ministers together with Muslim and South Asian community members, who removed approximately 50 kilograms of litter and abandoned materials from Borgomagno.

Participants worked in an area frequently used by residents and pedestrians, removing waste and improving its surroundings.

The local effort was one example of joint neighbourhood cleanups involving different communities in Padua.

The October initiative followed earlier environmental projects in September involving volunteers from different communities.

Such practical initiatives demonstrate that shared civic responsibilities can bring communities together without requiring them to share the same religious convictions.

The Volunteer Ministers programme originated with Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard and has developed into an international initiative supporting practical help and community improvement.

Ivan Arjona, representative of the Church of Scientology to the EU, OSCE, Council of Europe and United Nations, emphasised the connection between cooperation and respect for diversity.

"Respect for different beliefs becomes especially meaningful when it is accompanied by cooperation," Arjona said.

The continuing collaboration illustrates the role that voluntary action can play in strengthening community relationships and improving shared spaces.

Across Europe, Church of Scientology organisations and their members support educational, humanitarian and community programmes, including environmental volunteering and Environment human rights awareness.
